Learn more about how the process works
The Process
Where are you located?
Our studio is in the Lakeside neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia. However, we accept bouquets from anywhere in the U.S.!
How long does the process take?
The entire process from when we receive your bouquet to when the final frame is ready, takes 4-6 months total. We send updates when flowers are in the press, when design proposals are ready, and when the frame is finished.
How early should I book?
The earlier the better when booking floral preservation. We do accept limited numbers of bouquets every weekend. Additionally, we work with a small and local frame supplier by order. As soon as you place your order, we place ours ensuring your frame is ready as soon as possible!
Can I ship you my flowers?
Of course! If you select shipping when checking out, you will receive a PDF of shipping instructions along with your confirmation email.
My wedding just happened and I forgot to book floral preservation. Can you preserve my bouquet?
Yes! As long as we have availability and you can get your bouquet to us within 5 days! Please email courtney@solidagostudios.com or call (757) 995-5993 for last minute bookings to expedite the process. How long does the process take?
Will my flowers change colors?
Yes, most blooms change color when pressed and continue to change color within the frame over time. Solidago Studios uses UV protected glass to minimize color changing and fading. Pressing flowers is a natural art, therefore there will be some fading over time. If you have questions feel free to send them our way by emailing courtney@solidagostudios.com
Can you do custom frames or sizing?
Most definitely! We love custom projects, the bigger the dream the better. We work with a local frame shop who can create custom frame sizes for us. If you have something special and unique in mind, please reach out and we can work up a custom quote!
What are flowers that preserve really well?
Greenery, roses, ranunculus, stock, larkspur, delphinium, anemones, hydrangea, hellebores, etc. We can press all different types of flowers. Have a question about building a bouquet perfect for preservation? Shoot us an email courtney@solidagostudios.com
What are flowers that don't preserve well?
While we can press any flower, there are a few types that tend to yellow or brown more than an average flower. These include: white lisianthus, lilies, and chrysanthemums. We will still press these flowers if they are in your bouquet, and once you receive your design proposal you can decide if you want them included or not. Have any questions? Shoot us an email courtney@solidagostudios.com
